About the Role:
The Art Room Coordinator is responsible for designing and leading high-quality, engaging art programming for youth ages 5–18. This position oversees daily operations of the art room, facilitates developmentally appropriate activities, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and creative environment where youth can explore artistic expression, build skills, and develop confidence. The Art Room Coordinator serves as a positive role model and supports the overall mission and goals of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and lead high-quality art programming for youth ages 5–18, ensuring activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and inclusive.
- Adapt art curriculum and projects to meet the developmental needs and interests of diverse age groups and skill levels.
- Create a welcoming, safe, and organized art room environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and positive behavior.
- Build positive relationships with youth, modeling respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm for learning.
- Manage art supplies and materials, including inventory, organization, and responsible use of resources.
- Maintain consistent supervision of youth and enforce program and safety guidelines at all times.
- Collaborate with other program staff to support overall site programming, special events, and organizational initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and families regarding program activities and youth engagement.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Complete required documentation, attendance tracking, and reporting related to programming.
Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents in a structured setting.
- Background in art and a strong passion for creative expression (formal training not required but preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated good work ethic, reliability, and professionalism.
- Ability to adapt content and instruction for youth ages 5–18 with varying interests and abilities.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for working with youth and supporting their personal and creative development.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Wage: $15-$18 per hour DOE. Full-time, benefited position.
