Honoring Carolyn Gillette

Carolyn Gillette PortraitCarolyn Gillette has spent decades investing in the youth of Dubois, from leading outdoor education trips to helping start Dubois Youth Activities, which eventually became the Boys & Girls Club of Dubois. In 2008, she and a small group of committed locals raised $50,000 to purchase a building on Hay Street, creating a permanent home for the Club.

“I’ve seen kids walk through the doors of the Club and come alive,” Carolyn shares. “They find encouragement, consistency, and people who truly care. It’s been an honor to be part of something that gives so much to this community—and I’m grateful for the chance to shine a light on it.”

She’s worn many hats in the community, from school librarian to assisted living activity director, always bringing heart and energy to those around her. Her deep love for Wyoming, community, and outdoor education has shaped generations—and continues through her work with the National Bighorn Sheep Center and her bed and breakfast on Jakey’s Fork Creek where she shares her love of the Dubois wilderness with guests from around the world.
