Honoring Scott Musselman
Scott Musselman grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and learned the value of hard work from his parents, especially his father, who was his mentor and role model. After playing baseball at the University of Wyoming, he worked in the family business, helping it grow from just a few employees to more than 180. In the early 2000s, Scott and his wife moved to Buffalo to raise their four children. When the business eventually closed, he returned to his roots in the trades, later managing a stone shop before stepping into a new chapter of service.
That chapter began at the Boys & Girls Club of the Bighorns. What started with a job posting that read, “Do you want to make a difference?” quickly became a calling. As Director, Scott guided the Club through a period of growth with the support of a strong staff team. He focused on giving kids structure, love, and lasting experiences, whether through outdoor adventures like “Club Unplugged” or everyday lessons about accountability and resilience. Families often shared how his presence impacted not only children but parents as well.
After stepping away from the Club in 2021, Scott returned to construction, now working alongside his son in Laramie while enjoying time with his grandchildren. Looking back, he is most proud of the joy he found in serving kids and helping them see their own potential. His advice remains simple but powerful: “It takes courage to get up from failing and move forward. Failure is the best teacher.”.
Featuring Jay Novacek

Jay Novacek played tight end for the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals from 1985 to 1989. He is best remembered for his time with the Cowboys from 1990 to 1995, when he was part of three Super Bowl–winning teams. During his years in Dallas, Novacek was one of the league’s leading tight ends and was selected to five Pro Bowls. He was also named a first-team All-Pro in 1992. Over the course of his NFL career, he caught 422 passes for 4,630 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Novacek was drafted by the Cardinals out of the University of Wyoming in the sixth round of the 1985 NFL Draft. In 1984, he set the single-season NCAA record for a tight end with an average of 22.6 yards per catch. In recognition of his play, he was named first-team All-WAC and honorable mention All-American. Considered one of the best players in school history, Novacek is a member of the University of Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and is enshrined in both the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame.
